Canada-China Trade Deal is Too One-Sided

Financial Post - Diane Francis.

There is nothing in this deal with China that will protect Canadians. Details here.

PinP: Francis is no raging left-winger. She describes herself as a free-enterpriser and her columns over the years are testament to that. There's no doubt this China trade deal, which apparently our leader, Stephen The Great, has already ratified with no formal debate in parliament, sells out our country.
Just recently, a Canadian military intelligence officer was tried for selling secrets to Russia. When all is said and done, I wonder, who will have done more harm to our country, the traitor or the Prime Minister?
Think about it.

Dear Larry,

I’ll be honest with you. When I decided to jump into the fray over this Canada-China trade treaty I didn’t know if we’d have much success. The odds were certainly not in our favour and let’s face it: PM Harper has very powerful resources at his disposal.

But what he doesn’t have is you—tens of thousands of you in fact—willing to stand up for Canada’s environment, democracy and sovereignty with your voices and your pocketbooks. I am deeply impressed with what you’ve accomplished in just one short week:

• Almost 46,000 comments sent to the members of the International Trade Committee
• Close to 15,000 signatures on our Open Letter to Harper that I have sent to the Prime Minister on your behalf
• More than $15,000 in gifts—money that was used in part to pay for this provocative ad in Tuesday’s Ottawa Citizen

I have just discovered that we may have more time to fight this binding treaty than originally thought. It was NOT ratified yesterday and I believe that's due to your actions and those of tens of thousands of other Canadians. ForestEthics Advocacy is investigating whether or not we have time to take further steps to stop this agreement.

Thank you for all you’ve done to derail this binding treaty. Canada is not a company, it’s a country and you let Harper know it’s not for sale. I will be in touch with you as the next chapter in this trade treaty unfolds.

Thank you!
