A huge wildfire burning since Friday in the Santa Clarita Valley area north of Los Angeles has tripled in size over the weekend, destroying at least 18 homes and leaving one man dead. More than 1,500 homes have been evacuated as 1,673 firefighters battle the Sand fire. Story here.

Things are getting' serious folks. Did you hear that the temp. reached 54C at a town in Kuwait last week? That's the hottest it has ever been in the eastern hemisphere since records have been kept; and the second-hottest anywhere! Experts are predicting parts of the Middle East, including Iraq and Iran, will be too hot for human habitation as the mercury continues to head upward.
