In the U.S., the term for big "factory farms" is "confined animal feeding operations," or CAFOs. In Canada it's "intensive livestock feeding operations," or ILOs. Same thing.

In Manitoba, we are unable to get the united front needed, especially from the rural people that are most affected and at risk ! Plus
many others that live around and use Lake Winnipeg. Their silence is deafening! People and government have become complacent. And when our Pallister government ignores the situation of pollution to our waters and environment by opening up the hog barn moratorium areas for the sake of economy.....and votes, what strategy is left to fight back?
Even one of our daily newspapers no longer allows our voices to be heard, if it concerns hogs and manure concerns.
