Fascinating story that of the Monarch! I own but 18,000 square feet of land and grow all kinds of flowering plants for bees, butterflies and birds, but I dedicate a 75 foot hedge of plants including the milkweed where I let it colonize as much as the plant can, just for the Monarch. The milkweed rewards me with a delicious smelling perfume when in bloom.
