Dear Minister Ritz,
I am a senior citizen (a scientist & a retired Professor from the University of Toronto). I am writing to you concerning your statements last April at an international conference in Saskatchewan (“Feeding the Global Middle Class”), regarding GMOs. You were quoted as saying (in the Western Producer): “Industry slow to defend GMOs”.

Actually, in my opinion, and in the opinion of tens-of-thousands of independent scientists globally: GMOs should be banned (& not DEFENDED!). The reason is simple: GMOs were “created” through a massive fraud in the United States about 25 years ago, then “exported” globally by a transnational cartel, and have never been tested adequately for safety in the food-chain.
I draw your attention to a recently released book: “Altered Genes, Twisted Truth” by Mr Steven Druker (Public Interest Attorney, & Executive Director of Alliance for Bio-Integrity---hardly a “left-wing activist”!---see an article below by an award-winning British journalist, about his book). Mr Druker in his 511 pages, documents meticulously how the corporate developers of this fraudulent venture subverted science, corrupted governments, and systematically deceived the public. A gigantic FRAUD by any definition!
Frankly, as Canada’s Minister of Agriculture, you should know better than to defend a fraudulent technology. You should fire your science advisor immediately, and stop reading the propaganda of the fraudulent GMO cartel. Perhaps read Mr Druker’s book (if you have any spare time on the campaign trail).
Sincerely,
John Balatinecz, Toronto
PS: Sir, you should also know that glyphosate (Roundup), which is used hand-in-glove with GMOs, is a carcinogen (so designated by the WHO), and a chronic poison to human health! Thus, this poison should also be banned ASAP!

There are many characteristics defining Integrity, Mr.Ritz, in my view, has not demonstrated having any of those qualities.
